Maha shivratri Parva 2011

MAHA SHIVRATRI UTSAV

Maha Shivratri or Maha Sivaratri or Shivaratri or Sivarathri (Great Night of Shiva or Night of Shiva) is a Hindu festival celebrated every year on the 13th night/14th day in the Krishna Paksha (waning moon) of the month of Maagha (as per Shalivahana or Gujarati Vikrama) or Phalguna (as per Vikrama) in the Hindu Calendar (that is, the night before and day of the new moon). The festival is principally celebrated by offerings of Bael (Bilva) leaves to the Lord Shiva, all day fasting and an all night long vigil. Per scriptural and discipleship traditions, the penances are performed in order to gain boons in the practice of Yoga and meditation, in order to reach life's summum bonum steadily and swiftly.

surat to tirupati

Hi, friends
My name is raja. I am from surat, gujarat, INDIA. I am proffessonally textile engineer.
This diwali me & my friends decided to visit the holy temple of tirupati balaji situated in andhra pradesh at venkatachala hill.
We started our tour from surat at 05:00 am inthe morning to catch the train from SURAT to MUMBAI. We reached mumbai at 10:30 am. Our train to tirupati was at 03:45 pm ,so we decided to visit siddhivinayak mandir at prabhadevi.

siddhivinayak mandir

The siddhivinayak mandir is dedicated to hindu god ganesha. It is situated at prabhadevi, dadar, mumbai, maharashtra.
The temple has a small mandap (hall) with the shrine for SiddhiVinayak ("Ganesh ji that fullfills your wish"). The wooden doors to the sanctum are carved with images of the Ashtavinayak . The inner roof of the sanctum is plated with gold, and the central statute is of Ganesha. In the temple, there is a Hanuman ji temple as well.
The Siddhivinayak Mandir evolved from a small, tiny place of worship to the Grand Temple that stands today in the later half of the twentieth century. The glory to the temple was bought not only by the politicians who frequented the temple but also numerous bollywood filmstars who continuously visit the temple to seek the blessings of Lord Ganesha.
From mumbai's chatrapati shivaji terminals
railway station we caught our train to tirupati at 03:45 pm. Our train passed from beautiful landscape of western ghats(hills). Our train passed from at least 6 tunnels.

We reached tirupati at 03:pm next day.

Tirupati and Tirumala

Tirupati is small town ,which is located beneath tirumala hills. The city has very good climate with very pleasant temperatures all over the year. The best time to visit is from October to March.
From here we hired jeep 35 RS/person to reach at top to temple. We had done all our room bookings ,as
well as darshan ticket bookings previously by internet. So we had no problem of getting room. My advice to everyone who wants to visit the temple book your tickets via internet ,so
you will get more time there.
We confirmed our registrations & reached varahswami guest house. After getting fresh we all just visited bazzar there as our darshanam ticket was of next day.
We decided for to have a 'mundan'. 'Mundan' is called giving all hairs of the head to lord venkateshwara (balaji). Almost every person who comes here does the 'MUNDANAM'.
After that we visited bazzar. Here in bazzar you get all the items related to tirupati. After that we decided to take a meal at 10:30 pm . We had been told that the food items availeble here were made with coconut oil but, we found that it was not true. So we enjoyed our meal. The food items available here are iddli, dosa, uttapam, all type of rice & some Chinese items. Then we went to guest house and sleep.
